| Baptism is a water purification ritual practiced in Christianity. The word baptise derives from the Greek word ß?pte?? (the infinitive; also listed as the 1st person singular present active indicative ßapt???), which loosely means "to dip, bathe, or wash". St. John the Baptist is the name of one of our churches but also named after St.John the disciple himself. He baptised Jesus and many other people to wash away their sins and purify them from their burdens. A similar thing to this is christening, which is performed on babies, not children or adults. |

Baptisms have all different types of water containers, but our two churches, belonging to the church of England choose to baptise or christen adults, babies and children in a font. |
